The inauguration of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP’s Ughelli-Udu Federal Constituency Forum, has been described as a significant milestone in promoting participatory democracy, good governance, and sustainable development in Delta state.
The State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Hon. (Chief) Peter Okagbare Uviejitobor, who stated this during the formal inauguration of the forum at the weekend in Ughelli, commended the vote of confidence passed on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori by the people.
Applauding the successful inauguration of the Forum, the former Lawmaker who represented Udu Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly between 2015 and 2023, stated that Governor Oborevwori has shown capacity in governance of the state.
Uviejitobor explained that the formation of PDP Forum for the Federal Constituency, was to further galvanize seamless return of Rt Hon Oborevwori to Dennis Osadebe House in 2027 as Governor of Delta State.
The Oil and Gas Commissioner emphasized further that the inauguration was a positive step towards securing a decisive victory for the PDP, stressing that the forum has the potential to strengthen the party’s presence in the Ughelli-Udu federal constituency,
Maintaining that the performance of Governor Oborevwori in Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu local government areas in less than two years of his administration has made campaigning for his second term much more easier, Uviejitobor said the Urhobo nation is very proud of the highly cerebral and longest serving Speaker of the Delta State Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.
He commended the massive turnout of defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other opposition parties, who joined the PDP during the inauguration ceremony.
The Commissioner who was a one time Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government Affairs and the immediate past President-General of Udu Kingdom, pointed out that the mass decamping to PDP was a testament to the party’s growing popularity and the attractiveness of the MORE mantra of the Oborevwori’s led administration.
He said “His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor Delta State, is the will of Deltans and the will of the people must prevail at all times.
“As people of like minds, coming together under a forum, we are determined to send opposition parties parking. With this formation, PDP remains unbeatable.
“Luckily for us, the ongoing developmental projects in the federal constituency under the MORE agenda of our workaholic Governor, speaks volumes and the people are happy as demonstrated with vote of confidence passed on the Governor by the Forum”, Uviejitobor stated.
The Commissioner and PDP Chieftain emphasized the importance of unity among party members, as reiterated by the Chairman of the forum, Olorogun John Oguma, adding that the people have so much to be celebrated under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
