The Delta State House of Assembly will on Thursday 19 June 2025 hold a public hearing on a bill for a Law to enact the Delta State Colleges of Education Law.
The public hearing being organized by the House Committee on Education, will hold at the Press center, Assembly Complex, Okpanam road, Asaba beginning at 10am.
A statement by the Chairman, House Committee on Education, Hon Charles Emetulu call for inputs of stakeholders, either written or oral in the making of the new law.
The statement seeks memoranda from the Delta State Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Justice, Delta State College of Education, Warri, College of Education Mosogar, Delta Delta State University Abraka, University of Delta, Agbor, Southern Delta University, Ozoro, and Dennis Osadabey University, Anwai.
The committee also expects to receive inputs from the Delta State Polytechnic Otefe-Oghara, Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi Uku, Delta State Maritime Polytechnic, Burutu, and other critical stakeholders in the education sector from both private and public sector.
The statement adds that all memoranda on the proposed law should be in 20 copies, enclosed in a sealed envelope, and addressed to the Chairman, House Committee on Education and marked Delta State Colleges of Education Bill, 2025.
It says all memoranda should be submitted to the Clerk of the Committee on or before Tuesday 17 June 2025.
The statement appeals to relevant stakeholders to endeavour to participate in the public hearing as their presentation is key to the success of the exercise.
It will be recalled that the State House of Assembly at its sitting on Tuesday 27 May 2025, referred the bill to the house Committee on Education committee for further legislative scrutiny.
