One Year In Office: Isoko South Chairman Warri Unveils Projects, Commits To More Development

In a strategic move to mark his one-year anniversary in office, the Executive Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, South-south Nigeria, Comrade Warri Ovoke Friday, has introduced a range of initiatives designed to empower women, enhance local agriculture, and upgrade infrastructure at the grassroots level.

At the Isoko South Council Secretariat in Oleh, the council boss held a ceremony where a total of ₦11 million was distributed to 55 women, carefully selected from the 11 political wards in the local government area; each beneficiary received ₦200,000 to support and grow their small businesses.

Speaking at the event, Comrade Warri Ovuoke urged the women to use the funds prudently, highlighting the need for discipline and wise management of their new capital. He assured that women who successfully expand their businesses will be rewarded further in future empowerment rounds.

“I encourage you to invest this money in your businesses, not in ventures that will not generate returns. We are committed to lifting families out of poverty through small business support,” Warri said.

Overwhelmed with joy, the women sang praises and offered prayers for the chairman, committing to utilize the opportunity to its fullest potential.

The focus then shifted to a press conference where Warri outlined the key achievements of his administration over the past year to include but not limited to the following;

Renovation of the Council Secretariat and the main entrance gate; Construction of a new Secretary’s Quarters and Head of Personnel Management (HPM) official residence; An ongoing project to build a new legislative building and offices; Renovation of primary schools and distribution of exercise books to pupils.

The Chairman highlighted the substantial progress achieved in the health sector, referencing the Council’s partnership with the OMIWA Foundation to facilitate a free medical outreach, providing residents with access to free consultations, medications, eyeglasses, and laboratory tests.

Warri also addressed security concerns, highlighting the challenges posed by herdsmen activities, which initially threatened farming in the area, but explained how strategic interventions helped alleviate the issue, restoring confidence among farmers.

As the anniversary celebrations continue, the residents of Isoko South are optimistic that the next years of Warri’s administration will bring even greater development and empowerment at the grassroots level.

The highlight of the event was a facility tour and inspection of the pepper farm at the council secretariat, among other projects visited by pressmen.
