UBEC, SUBEB Organize Two-Week Capacity-Building Programmes For 660 Teachers In Delta State

Delta State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB, in collaboration with Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, is organising two capacity building programmes for 660 teachers in Delta State.

The trainings includes STRENGTHENING TEACHER ENGLISH PROFICIENCY, STEP and
STRENGTHENING MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE EDUCATION, SMASE.

STEP is an initiative of UBEC in partnership with the British Council, while SMASE is an initiative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education.

A statement endorsed by Hon (Barr.) Samuel Mariere, Executive Chairman, SUBEB and Mrs. Eru Ezefili, Director, Teacher Development, SUBEB Delta State, explained that the STEP is a specialized training aimed to equip teachers with the necessary skills required to communicate effectively in the classroom.

While SMASE is aimed at improving the teaching and learning of Mathematics and Science Education at the Basic Education level using the ASEI – PDSI approach.

Emphasis on both trainings, according to the statement, are on the paradigm shift from the traditional teaching methods to a modern approach in which learners are actively involved in the teaching and learning process.

The trainings are scheduled to hold from Monday 28TH JULY to 1st August, 2025 for STEP and from 4th- 8th August 2025. for SMASE, across the 3 Senatorial zones at 9am daily.

Venue for the programme in Delta North is
OLOROGUN FELIX IBRU SECRETARIAT HALL, ASABA, Delta Central, ENI GRAMMAR SCHOOL, EVWRENI, while Delta South is COLLEGE OF EDUCATION,WARRI.
