The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor is saddened about the passing of Hon Justice Patience Elumeze, the immediate past President of Customary Court of Appeal, Delta State.
Rt Hon Guwor who received the news of the death of the retired jurist with great shock, expressed deep sorrow over the devastating development.
The Speaker in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, on behalf of the Delta State Assembly appreciated the deceased’s contributions to the judiciary and prayed to God to grant her eternal rest.
“On behalf of the Delta State House of Assembly, I wish to express our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Hon Justice Patience Onuwa Elumeze, immediate past President of the State Customary Court of Appeal.
“Justice Elumeze was a distinguished jurist, an epitome of integrity, and a trailblazer who served the judiciary and our dear state with unwavering dedication, brilliance, and courage.
“She not only contributed immensely to the development of customary jurisprudence but also inspired a generation of women in law through her intellect, resilience, and exemplary leadership.
“Her tenure as President of the Customary Court of Appeal was marked by professionalism, judicial reforms, and an unrelenting pursuit of justice for all.
“I pray that God grant her immediate family the fortitude to bear the burden of the monumental loss. May they find comfort in the indelible impact she made and the noble values she upheld”, Guwor stated.
