Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor has said that the launch of the Delta State Security Trust Fund is timely and very strategic to promoting peace, stability, prosperity and good governance in the state.
Reacting to Wednesday’s official launched of the Delta State Security Trust Fund, Guwor commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, on the unveiling of the Trust Fund, which he described as a bold and forward-thinking initiative aimed at strengthening the security architecture in the state.
The Speaker emphasized the commitment of the State House of Assembly to provide the legislative backing and oversight necessary to ensure transparency, accountability, and efficient utilization of the Fund.
Rt Hon Guwor who is the National Treasurer, Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, called on corporate organizations, development partners, and well-meaning individuals to support the Fund as a shared responsibility in building a more secure and prosperous Delta State.
The Speaker in a statement made available to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, reaffirmed the House’s unwavering support for policies and programmes that promote the welfare, safety, and prosperity of all Deltans.
Rt Hon Guwor particularly commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his visionary leadership and commitment to building a more prosperous Delta State.
The Speaker noted that the Fund, which was established by law enacted by the Delta State Assembly, is designed to mobilize resources to complement government investments in security.
He expressed optimism that the initiative would attract significant contributions from corporate organizations, individuals, and other stakeholders, citing the landmark donation of ₦10 billion by the Chairman, Tantita Security Services, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.
Guwor assured the people of Delta State that the Delta State House of Assembly would continue to provide legislative support and oversight to ensure the effective implementation of the Security Trust Fund.
“The launch of the Security Trust Fund is a testament to the Governor’s dedication to addressing security challenges in our state and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive,
“The development marks a significant milestone in our collective efforts to protect lives, property, and economic investments in Delta state.
“As representatives of the people, we understand that security is the bedrock of sustainable development. This Fund will provide the much-needed support to our security agencies, enabling them to operate more effectively and respond swiftly to emerging threats.
“Security is everyone’s business. I encourage stakeholders to collaborate with the government in sustaining this Fund. Together, we can make Delta a model of safety and peace”, the Speaker stated.

The Universal Basic Education Commission in collaboration with the Delta State Universal Basic Education Board, is organizing a 5-day capacity building workshop on Strengthening Mathematics and Science Education for 200 newly employed Mathematics and Science Teachers across the 25 local government areas of Delta State.
The capacity building workshop according to UBEC and SUBEB, followed successful completion of Phase One, Cycle 1 to Cycle 4 In Service Education and Training, INSET, from 2012 to 2025 of the SMASE programme.
The training which is an initiative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education (FME), is residential and scheduled to hold from Monday 20th to Friday 24th October 2025, between the hours of 9am.to 5pm. daily, at Anglican Girls Grammar School, Ughelli, in Ughelli North local government area.
A statement by the Director, Teacher Development Department, Delta SUBEB, Mrs. Eru Ezefili, on behalf of the Executive Chairman of the Board, Hon Samuel Mariere, says the capacity building with the theme *Attitudinal Change in the Teaching and Learning of Mathematics and Science”, is a specialized training aimed at improving the teaching and learning of Mathematics and Science at the Basic Education level using the ASEI – PDSI approach.
The statement adds that the training emphasis is on the paradigm shift from the traditional teaching methods to a modern approach in which learners are actively involved in the teaching and learning process of mathematics and science.
