Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has congratulated two members of the House, Hon Ferguson Onwo and Hon James Augoye, for successfully obtaining Doctorate Degrees in Public Administration from Novena University, Ogume, in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.
At plenary, Rt Hon Guwor described the academic feat achieved by the two lawmakers as worthy of celebration, saying, “I am absolutely delighted to hear that two of our distinguished lawmakers have successfully defended their PhD theses.”
The Speaker, on behalf of the entire legislature, rejoiced with Hon Ferguson Onwo, who represents Isoko South II Constituency, and Hon James Augoye, representing Okpe Constituency, stressing that the two lawmakers had indeed made the Assembly proud.
“Obtaining Doctorate Degrees in Public Administration is a testament to your dedication, hard work, and commitment to academic excellence, in addition to your legislative duties. On behalf of the Delta State House of Assembly, I extend my warmest congratulations to both of you, Hon Ferguson Onwo and Hon James Augoye, on these remarkable achievements,” Rt Hon Guwor said.
The Speaker maintained that the milestone not only reflected the lawmakers’ personal growth but also added value to the intellectual capacity and expertise of the state legislature.
Rt Hon Guwor also extended his felicitations to the constituents of Isoko South II and Okpe over the impressive academic achievements of their representatives in the Delta State House of Assembly.
He said, “Only 1% of the world’s population are PhD holders. It is gratifying to note that both of you are among that 1%. This underscores the importance of continuous learning and the pursuit of knowledge, even as you remain focused on your legislative duties and representing your constituents.
“I again congratulate both of you for this personal and professional development, as it will no doubt enhance your contributions to the growth of Delta State and the nation at large,” Guwor added.
Hon Ferguson Onwo and Hon James Augoye, coming under personal explanation, had on the floor of the House during plenary informed the Speaker and members of the successful defense of their Doctorate degree programs.
Hon Ferguson Onwo, representing Isoko South II, said he now wished to be addressed as “Hon (Chief) Ferguson Onwo PhD,” while Hon James Augoye, representing Okpe Constituency, preferred “Hon (Chief) Dr James Augoye.”
Both lawmakers commended the Speaker and their colleagues for the support throughout the period of their academic pursuit.
