The Executive Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, has bagged the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Delta State Council’s “Transformational Development Legacy Award”, alluding to it as an encouragement to do more for his people .
Andaye received the prestigious award on Thursday, November 20th, 2025, during the NUJ Delta State Council 2025 Press Week grand opening ceremony, a lecture awards ceremony, in Asaba, the Delta State Council.
According to an elated Bomadi Council Boss, he thanked God Almighty for giving him the enablement to do the “little” he has done in the space of a little over a year in office as Chairman.
Andaye equally commended the NUJ Delta State Council Press Week Committee for the thorough due diligence check that culminated in his being found worthy to be presented with the award, assuring that it is a call to do more.
Andaye, who only received double awards from Time Africa Magazine and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Headquarters as “Best Local Government Chairman in Nigeria 2025” and “Icon of Societal Transformation”, respectively, noted that, in one year, “I was able to commence and complete 14 mega projects, which were commissioned on the 7th of August this year by His Excellency the Governor, represented by the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme”.
Said the Bomadi Council Chairman : “We never did what we did for the purpose of recognition. But we are happy that with the little we have done, someone somewhere was observing us and deemed us worthy of this prestigious award by practicing journalists who are saddled with oversight functions of holding leaders accountable. I think it is a call for me to go to Bomadi my local government, and do more for my people.”
Earlier, while presenting the NUJ Delta State Council’s Transformational Development Legacy Award to the Bomadi Council Boss, Delta State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress ( APC), Elder Omeni Sobotie, commended Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye for impacting on his local government through verifiable people oriented projects and policies , thus driving the Oborevwori administration’s MORE Renewed Hope agenda to the grassroots.
Sobotie congratulated the state ALGON secretary on his well-deserved recognition by the NUJ, describing him as a worthy ambassador of good governance at the grassroots.
The award presentation to Hon Andaye was witnessed by his wife, Hon Mrs. Rejoice Andaye, Chairman of Udu Local Government, Hon Vincent Oyibode , Commissioner for Works ( Rural Roads) and Public Information , Mr. Charles Aniagwu ( who represented Governor Oborevwori), Vice Chancellor of University of Delta ,Agbor, Professor Stella Chiemeke, Chief Fred Majemite, the National President of NUJ , Comrade Alhassan Yahya ( represented by the Vice President , NUJ Zone F, Comrade Okpaka Dokubo, the management team of Bomadi local government led by the SLG, CAN Bomadi , friends and political associates of Hon Andaye , among others.
