Community Leaders Back Eric Igban Foundation’s Push for Quality Education in Ugborodo

The Eric Igban Foundation, at the weekend, continued its educational campaign across the Ugborodo communities in Warri South‑West Local Government Area of Delta State with an inter‑ school Mathematics and English competition.

The contest, held at the Ugborodo Community Centre, drew a large audience of students, teachers and observers from within the locality and beyond.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chairman of the Eric Igban Foundation, Dr. Andrew Omagbemi Igban, said the academic showdown was in line with the foundation’s long‑standing commitment to human‑capital development, healthcare, community engagement and educational advancement.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Igban explained that the Math and English competition among schools was organized as part of the foundation’s ongoing drive to support and promote education, a mission it has repeatedly emphasized as central to building a brighter future for the Ugborodo community.

He highlighted the importance of nurturing education from an early age, noting that efforts must be made to build a solid educational foundation for a bright future of the younger generation.

Dr. Igban emphasized that the Eric Igban Foundation remains dedicated to fostering educational excellence, improving healthcare access and promoting community development across its mandate areas.

The one‑time youth leader in the state urged parents and community heads to take responsibility for every child, stressing that such commitment is essential for shaping an enabling society.

“Education is not a scam; rather, it is the most powerful catalyst for change. When we nurture the curiosity of a child today, we are lighting the torch that will guide our nation tomorrow. The enthusiasm we saw in Ugborodo reminds us that, with the right support, no child’s potential is beyond reach,” Dr. Igban stated.

The competition, which attracted participants from primary and secondary schools across Ugborodo, featured rigorous written tests, rapid‑fire quizzes and on‑stage problem‑solving rounds.

Spectators were treated to impressive displays of mental arithmetic, creative storytelling and eloquent essay writing, underscoring the foundation’s belief that education is the cornerstone of a thriving society.

Winners in each category received cash rewards on the spot, and parents were advised to use the funds wisely to further support their children’s education.

Stakeholders who spoke voiced their support for the foundation’s initiatives, praising it for its partnership in development and innovation in almost every aspect of life’s endeavors.

“The foundation has once again proved that it is a true partner in our development. This competition not only celebrates academic excellence but also instills a sense of healthy competition among our youths. We pledge to continue working with the foundation to replicate such initiatives across all our schools,” a respondent said.

The Eric Igban Foundation’s educational drive is ensuring that the next generation is equipped with the skills and knowledge to drive sustainable growth in Ugborodo and beyond.
