Delta State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Hon. (Chief) Peter Uviejitobor, has expressed profound gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori over the approval of a comprehensive power‑infrastructure project aimed at restoring electricity to DSC Township, Orhuwhorun and its environs in Udu Local Government Area.
In a statement, Hon. Uviejitobor outlined the implications of the development, describing it as a clear demonstration of the Governor’s deliberate effort to boost energy supply, stimulate local economies and elevate the living standards of the people.
“I am profoundly grateful to His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, for his unwavering commitment to the development of our beloved community and its environs. DSC Township, Orhuwhorun has remained without electricity for several years due to the breakdown of a 15 MVA, 33/11 kV power transformer,” Uviejitobor said.
The Oil and Gas Commissioner, on behalf of the residents of Udu, thanked the Governor for listening to the pleas of the people and for turning them into tangible action.
He added that the intervention will not only restore reliable electricity in the locality but also unlock opportunities for small‑scale enterprises and enhance overall security in Orhuwhorun and neighbouring communities.
Uviejitobor, a two‑term member of the Delta State House of Assembly who represented Udu Constituency, emphasized that replacement of the faulty 15 MVA transformer and the other components of the approval will significantly improve power reliability and support economic activities in the area.
“The people of Udu stand ready to partner with the State in safeguarding these assets and contributing to the broader vision of a prosperous Delta State,” the Commissioner pledged.
Hon Uviejitobor further stated that the power upgrade will herald a new era of sustainable development in the locality as it promises increased productivity and a higher quality of life for citizens.
“We look forward to the swift implementation of these works and to reaping the long‑term dividends of the investment,” he said.
The Commissioner thanked his colleagues in the Delta State Executive Council for support, stressing that their collective action underscores the administration’s focus on infrastructure as a catalyst for economic growth and social well‑being of Deltans.
