DTHA Correspondents Praise Guwor’s Magnanimity As Get-Together Renews Bonds

In the spirit of the festive season, Journalists covering the Delta State House of Assembly beat have expressed gratitude to the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, for what they described as his consistent show of love, magnanimity and respect for the press.

The appreciation was expressed during a convivial indoor get-together hosted by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Speaker, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, held at his Asaba residence where members of the Assembly Press Corp gathered to celebrate the joy of the upcoming Christmas and the New Year.

Welcoming the Correspondents, the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, expressed profound gratitude to the media team for their unwavering support and balanced reportage of the activities of the Speaker and the Delta State House of Assembly.

According to him, the Speaker is highly satisfied with the performance of the Assembly Correspondents in projecting the office of the Speaker and the legislative arm of government.

“The Speaker has repeatedly expressed his appreciation for your professionalism and dedication. As his Chief Press Secretary, I assure you that I will continue to carry everyone along and sustain this synergy for the overall good of the Assembly,” Nwaeke stated.

Recalling his years as a journalist with Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), Warri, where he covered the Government House and later the State Assembly, Nwaeke pledged to remain a bridge between the Speaker’s office and the press corps.

“Having walked this path as a reporter, I understand the challenges. I am committed to ensuring that no one is left behind and that our relationship continues to thrive on mutual respect and cooperation,” he added.

The CPS commended the Correspondents for their resilience and courage, expressing optimism that the future holds greater opportunities for the media profession.

Leader of the group, Mr. Andrew Ikehi of The Pointer Newspaper praised the Speaker for recognising the vital role of the media in democratic governance and for fostering a cordial working relationship with journalists covering the Assembly.

“Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor has consistently demonstrated that he values the media as partners in progress. His encouragement and support have boosted our morale and strengthened our resolve to continue discharging our duties professionally,” Ikehi said.

One after another, members of the Assembly press crew including Emmanuel Okoro (DRTV News Cameraman), Mercy Neme (News Agency of Nigeria), Franklin Igrigri (DBS Asaba Cameraman) and Favour Okafor (DBS Asaba Reporter) took turns to express heartfelt appreciation to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor for his constant show of love and recognition of their diligent service in the House.

They collectively prayed for God’s continued strength, wisdom and guidance for Rt. Hon. Guwor as he pilots the affairs of the Delta State House of Assembly.

Other speakers, including Austin Akanigha (Information), Mr. Godfrey Nzekwe (NTA Reporter), Peter Ogege (DRTV News Reporter), MaryJane Agemomen (Quest TV) and Ifeanyi Chukwuji, commended Mr. Nwaeke for his team spirit, resilience and camaraderie, describing him as a unifying force within the Assembly media family.

The wife of the CPS, Mrs. Mary Efekhoba Nwaeke, was equally celebrated as members of the Delta State Assembly Correspondents showered encomiums on the amiable lady for her warmth, esteem support, gifts and hospitality towards the team.

The event climaxed with feasting, laughter and goodwill, as the Correspondents and their host, Mr Nkem Nwaeke made merry in a symbolic celebration of Christmas and the New Year, reinforcing the bond between the Delta State House of Assembly and the media.
