The Delta State Government has been commended for its commitment to workers’ welfare following the promotion of 85 top and middle management staff of the Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission.
The commendation came during the January 2026 promotion exercise, where the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Sunday Ebiriere, described staff promotion as a core mandate of the commission and a major driver of morale, productivity and quality service delivery.
“Promotion is not just a routine exercise; it is a critical tool for motivating staff and enhancing efficiency in legislative support services,” Ebiriere said. “When staff are motivated, the quality of service they render improves, and this ultimately strengthens the lawmaking process of the Delta State House of Assembly.”

Mr Ebireri noted that the MORE Agenda of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has continued to create opportunities for Deltans, with staff of the commission being direct beneficiaries.
“The promoted officers must reciprocate this gesture by giving their best to the state through efficient, professional and dedicated service,” he charged.
The Chairman commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, for approving and funding the promotion exercise, while appreciating members of the commission for their collective efforts in strengthening the legislature.
He said “the commission remains committed to building a robust legislative bureaucracy that will make the business of lawmaking more effective and efficient in achieving set goals.”

In his remarks, the Secretary of the Commission, Barrister Austin Nwasike, said the commission was determined to sustain a conducive working environment for staff.
“Regular promotion is one of the key ways of maintaining staff morale and productivity,” Nwasike said, assuring that “additional welfare packages are already in the pipeline.”
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Delta State Chapter of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASSAN), Comrade Timi Appah, applauded the governor, the speaker and the commission for the promotion exercise.
“Staff have not been short-changed under the present administration. Workers are highly motivated and in good spirits to deliver optimally on their duties”, Appah stated.

The promotion exercise is seen as part of ongoing efforts by the Delta State Government to strengthen public service performance and improve legislative efficiency in the state.
