The Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and the Delta State Government, has scheduled a three-day capacity building workshop aimed at strengthening data management across the state’s basic education sector.
According to the statement signed by the SUBEB Chairman, Hon. Samuel Mariere, the training will focus on the use of the Basic Education Management Information System (BEMIS) App, a digital tool developed by Delta SUBEB following observations from the ongoing 2024/2025 Annual School Census in public primary schools.
The workshop, themed “Current Trends in Data Capture, Entry, Analysis and Reporting,” is targeted at Education Management Information System (EMIS) officers drawn from Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs), Curriculum Implementation and Evaluation (CIE) offices, the State Ministry of Basic Education, and SUBEB.
Participants will be selected from all 25 local government areas in Delta State.
The initiative, according to Mariere is designed to equip officers with relevant skills to enhance teamwork and independent performance, with the ultimate goal of ensuring timely, accurate, and reliable data for effective planning and decision-making in the state’s basic education system.
The statement adds that the residential workshop is scheduled to hold from April 1 to April 3, 2026, starting at 9:00 a.m. daily.
The venue for the training is Gares Place Hotel, located along Ughelli/Patani Road in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
