The Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has extended a message of hope and renewal to Christians worldwide as they celebrate Easter, commemorating Christ’s triumph over death.
In his Easter message, Rt Hon Guwor reflected on the significance of the celebration, saying it highlights Christ’s sacrificial love, death, and resurrection, which offers hope and triumph over despair.
The Conference Chairman, who is the Speaker of the Delta State Assembly, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, urged Christians to embody Christ’s values of love, humility, sacrifice, forgiveness, and faith, to build peaceful and just societies.
“Easter remains the cornerstone of the Christian faith, an event that commemorates the sacrificial love and glorious resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is a strong reminder that hope can rise from despair, light can overcome darkness, and life triumphs over death,” Guwor said.
The Speaker acknowledged numerous challenges facing the world but emphasized the need for steadfastness, unity, and collective action towards peace, security, and prosperity.
“At this solemn yet joyous time, I urge all Christians to reflect deeply on the virtues exemplified by Christ. These values are not only central to our spiritual growth but are also essential for building peaceful, just, and united societies.
“In Nigeria, and indeed across the globe, we continue to face challenges that test our collective resolve. However, the message of Easter assures us that no situation is beyond redemption. It calls us to remain steadfast, to support one another, and to work collaboratively towards a future marked by peace, security, and prosperity for all.
“As leaders and citizens alike, let us embrace the spirit of renewal that Easter represents. Let us recommit ourselves to justice, equity, and service to humanity. Together, we can foster stronger institutions and a more inclusive society,” Guwor stated.
The Speaker reaffirmed the commitment of the State Assemblies to enacting laws that will promote good governance, social justice, and economic growth, assuring that the legislature would continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to improve the welfare of the people.
“Once again, on behalf of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, and my colleagues at the Delta State Assembly, I extend warm and heartfelt Easter greetings to Christians across Nigeria and around the world.
“Let us promote harmony in the society regardless of differences in faith, ethnicity, or background.
