Coalition for Media Politics and Governance, CMPG, has commended Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, for assuring stakeholders and 2023 governorship aspirants of free, fair and transparent primaries.
The group made the commendation in a communiqué issued at the end of her February 2022 general meeting held in Asaba on Wednesday, saying that a level playing ground for all aspirants will further deepen internal democracy, enhance unity and equity in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
A communiqué signed by CMPG Chairman, Chief Barr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, and Secretary, Comrade Fatai Onifade noted that 2023 governorship aspirants in the state are capable and eminently qualified individuals with good track records, and urged the women folks to also take advantage of the promise made by the governor and to present themselves for the gubernatorial race.
The meeting also encouraged members to present themselves for elective offices, so as to balance the equation of self ambition and individual accomplishments with loyalty and service to leaders and the party, PDP.
The communiqué indicated that CMPG shall commence visits to all the governorship aspirants, have a robust interface with them on individual basis and publicise their vision and agenda for the state beyond Okowa administration, if elected.
It further stated that CMPG is for all PDP gubernatorial aspirants till after the primaries, and thereafter focus on projecting the party’s governorship candidate for a landslide victory in 2023.
CMPG approved commencement of LGA Meetings by Coordinators, constitute exco, create WhatsApp groups and report progress and challenges to state exco.
Members appreciated the state governor for recalling his Executive Assistant on Communications, Barr Fred Oghenesivbe, describing Gov Okowa’s action as uncommon display of visionary leadership and superlative christian virtues worthy of emulation by political leaders and those in the corridors of power.
New members were admitted and the rules and ethics were read to them, as CMPG forbids criminal activities; yahoo, ritual killings for money, advance fee fraud, narcotics and other unscrupulous activities.
The next meeting of CMPG comes up in March, 2022.
