Delta 2023: Oborevwori, A Man Whose Name Is Synonymous With Accessibility

One of the qualities of a good leader is his accessibility by his people. Quality leadership must not be one that intentionally creates barricades. This is no doubt a key component of proper leadership.

There is what I term “language (communication) accessibility, and accessibility by making oneself available to one’s people for engagements”. Language accessibility is the ability to relate with everyone that you come in contact with in the language he or she understands irrespective of one’s educational, political and social status, while accessibility by making oneself available for people to engage and interact with is the removal of unnecessary blockades, barricades and bottlenecks to those who intend to interact, engage and have access to you.

From my findings, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori cannot be strictly said to be a product of aristocratic background. He grew up with the commoners/Deltans. He understands the language of the commoners as well as those of the upper social echelon.

Sheriff Oborevwori fits into who Deltans refer to as “Kpako”. As a product of “kpakoism”, he knows how to speak his native language of Okpe/Uvwie/Urhobo unhindered. He also speaks fluently the popular pidgin English that is mostly spoken in Nigeria. His English is also very flawless. In other words, there are no groups or persons that he cannot relate with.

Without any iota of doubt, accessibility to Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori will not be a problem. I am very much aware that apart from making himself directly accessible, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori has created several other platforms through which he can be reached directly. He can be reached on Twitter, whatsapp and Facebook directly. This is no doubt indicative of a leader that sees access by his people as a very important tool that will enable and deepen good governance.

The Sheriff Oborevwori that I know can also be reached directly in Asaba or in Osubi Town, his home Town. Over the years, he has established an undisputed fame for “being like a river” that never forgets its source.

Deltans no doubt needs a Governor that they can relate with and/ or reach out to for solutions in the betterment of their lives.

Deltans needs someone they can access/relate with. Deltans will surely not have a problem accessing or knowing where their “Chief Servant” is at every point in time if given the opportunity to lead them in 2023.

In all humility and sincerity, I therefore urge all PDP Delegates/Leaders, and Deltans to give him the opportunity to serve as Governor of Delta State.
