It was a roll call of distinguished personalities especially of the political class that joined the Hon. Commissioner for Secondary Education in Delta State, Mrs. Rose Ezewu at Okwegume community in Okpe Local Government Area of the State to bid her late mother Mrs Omonokioja Warrens Alerubo farewell to great beyond.
All economic activities were temporary brought to a halt in the community and other neighbouring communities as the convoy of cars also obstructed human movements.
Onlookers and fun seekers at their various advantage positions catched the glimpse and glamour of the funeral ceremony.
The Okpe rich cultural heritage (troup) was on the ground for display likewise the circular musical bands.
Earlier, the golden casket that conveyed the 108 years old body of Late Mrs Omonokioja warrens Alerubo was ushered into the event before internment where she was eulogized by all.
Late Mama Omonokioja who was interred at her abodeat edifice built by her children amidst encomiums from family members, friends and well wishers, appreciated them for giving their matriarch a befitting burial rites.
Mrs. Ezewu who eulogised her late mother said she lived a life of great accomplishments, especially in bringing up her children in the way of the Lord.
Ezewu said: “At 108, she brought up worthy children and I am glad to be part of her children and this is a ceremony for the celebration of life and thanksgiving for a great mother who went through a lot in keeping us her children together having lost her husband many years ago.
She thanked all dignitaries for attending her mother’s burial ceremony, pointing out that her mother’s teachings made her and others whom she/they are today.
According to her, “despite the busy schedules of individuals coupled with the Political seasons of consultations of aspirants, I am marveled at the mammoth crowd that stormed the burial ceremony of my mother. This was a pointer of whom my late mother was.
Continuing, “My late mother was everything to me, she was my adviser and mentor and I will miss that mother’s advice and prayers”.
Speaking further, the soft spoken Education Commissioner who described her late mother as a bridge builder, epitome of humility, wisdom, philanthropist among others, said the vacuum created by her demise in the family can’t be refilled.
She however consoled herself, members of the family, friends and well wishers that their matriarch is worth emulating. She was perfect to a fault. She concluded
