The People’s Democratic Party PDP, in ward 3, Ndemili, Utagba-Uno, Ndokwa West LGA, on Easter Monday, in a move to strengthened it grip in the area inaugurated door-to-door canvassers ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The canvassers drawn from the various communities of Ulogwe Isumpe, NJA, Agric, Umusam, Oliogo converged at Ndemili, the ward 3 headquarters, where they were inaugurated by Chief Kenneth Nwaomucha, a chieftain of the party in the state.
Speaking at the colourful ceremony, Chief Nwaomucha, who holds the title of ‘Odozhi-Obodo of Umusadege, charged the canvassers to preach the gospel of the PDP in their various communities as it was important to begin early campaign to consolidate the dominance of the party in the area.
According to him: “the essence of this inauguration was to strengthen the PDP dominance in the area ahead of time. We leant that the opposition APC members are wooing our supporters, so this door-to-door canvassers are to reawakens the spirit of PDP as the main party in the area. We want them to start the campaign now so it will be easier for us as a party in 2023 general elections.
“APC cannot be making noise in this area while we keep quiet. So as a party we decided to inaugurate our canvassers now to begin to preach the gospel of our party and the good work of governor Ifeanyi Okowa so people will not be carried away by the lies of APC. PDP is in charge and we will remain in charge in the state.” He pointed out.
Nwaomucha who is also the Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, thanked the PDP faithful for their show of solidarity even as he advised the canvassers to move from door-to-door to sensitize eligible voters of PDP achievements.
The PDP chieftain reminded the party faithful of the need to work for all round success of the PDP candidates in the 2023 elections, a fit the party, has continued to maintained since 1999.
“Don’t leave the party no matter what because if you leave you won’t be accepted by other party, do not be deceived by the APC. We are inaugurating you as canvassers to carry out the good message of our party.”
Continuing; “Tell them to get their permanent voter’s card ready and those who have not registered should use the opportunity of the on going voter’s registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to do so.”
He commended the Ndemili group three who also used the occasion to celebrate their Day, adding that he will continue to do his best in promoting the positive activities of the youths in the community.
The high points of the event was the official inauguration of the canvassers and cultural display by different dance groups.
Those at the event includes; Hon. Barth Inneh Ozah, ward 7 Councillor, Hon. Clement Okwuazu, Councillor ward 20, Hon. Austin Okom, the Secretary to the Ndokwa West LGA, a representative of the Chairman, Iyom Emmanuel, Festus Nwaomucha, the Admin General, Ndemili Town Hall, Hon. Donatus Onyeme, Chief Emma Nwaomucha among other dignitaries.
