In keeping with his established style and approach to life, the immediate past Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon Samuel Mariere, Sunday organized a thanksgiving service to mark the end of tenure as Commissioner and a member of Delta State Executive Council.
Hon Mariere during the thanksgiving service held at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Evwreni in Ughelli North local government area, said much was achieved for the state and its people in ten months as the head of the Delta State Ministry of Water Resources Development.
The former Lawmaker was also at the church to appreciate God for 25th year marriage anniversary, his birthday which came up last Thursday, June 8 and victory of PDP Sheriff Oborevwori at the Governorship poll in Delta State and his successful inauguration as Governor.
According to Hon Mariere, the thanksgiving service was necessitated by the fact that it was God that laid the foundation for the ten months journey as a member of the State Executive Council.
Mariere explained that he was appointed Commissioner during the tail end of the immediate past administration of the state led by Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, disclosing that few days after the appointment, he came to God at the same church for thanksgiving and to seek His direction.
Flanked by the wife, Mrs Joy Mariere, the former Lawmaker stated that God ended the tenure successfully and that there was the need to return all the glory to Him.
He acknowledged the grace of God upon him, his family and associates, maintaining that what he owe God in return was a grateful heart, filled with love and appreciation, hence the thanksgiving service.
While thanking God for the success stories in his ten months stint in the Ministry of Water Resources, Hon Mariere paid glowing tributes to former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the opportunity to serve Delta State and its people in such capacity as Commissioner and member of the executive council.
He also expressed gratitude to God for his 25th year marriage and birthday anniversaries, even as he expressed optimism for a greater future.
Mariere stated that as a politician he will always crave for excellence and better future for the people, and predicted that the government of Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori will enthrone greater development in the state.
The Vicar of St Paul’s Anglican Church, Evwreni, Venerable Godwin Ujevwecha, commended Hon Mariere and family for heart of appreciation no matter the situation.
The Anglican Cleric explained that because Hon Mariere always seek the face of God in everything he does, the good vibes of life can never depart from him and his household.
He stressed the need for thanksgiving as it serves as open door for more of God’s blessings.
Some key stakeholders in the state including Chief Mike Adiotrome, Chief Fred Majemite and immediate past Commissioner for Economic Planning, Dr Barry Gbe, commended Hon Mariere’s style and approach to life, saying that God is key to all successes.
A reception was later held at the country home of the former Lawmaker also at Evwreni.
The ceremony featured musical entertainment and other side attractions.
