As Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori marked 100 days in office as the Governor of Delta State, the Integrity Group, the MORE ambassadors, has described his administration as impactful going by his policy direction and strategic implementations.
The governor who came to power on the crest of the MORE Agenda, has taken critical steps in ensuring that Deltans get MORE of dividends of democracy. In dissecting the administration 100 days in office, a group whose mandates is to promote Oborevwori’s agenda, the Integrity Group has enumerated in clear terms, achievements of the administration in 100 days in office.
The Convener of Integrity Group, Dr. Oke Idawene in an interview with Journalists, reels out the Oborevwori’s administration in the last 100 days. In his copious analysis, Dr. Idewene highlighted the impacts of the Oborevwori’s welfarist policy towards the state work force.
In fulfilment to his campaign promises as encapsulated on his MORE Agenda, Idawene pointed out that governor Oborevwori has made good his promises of improving on the standard of the state work force, adding that in implementing his Meaningful Development; Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, Enhanced Peace and Security (M.O.R.E) Agenda, he has fulfilled his promised of payment of promotion arrears of about N5 billion to the state civil servants which he has already commenced payment in batches.
The Convener of Integrity Group noted that the Council workers have also not left out in Oborevwori’s policies towards all categories of workers in the state. He stated that within the period under review, the governor has approved the payments of all backlogs of pensions arrears and other benefits to the retirees at the local government level.
“This is in addition to the approval for employment of teaching and non teaching staff in the primary schools across the state. This is unprecedented no doubt.” Idawene added.
On the areas of infrastructures, Dr. Idawene explained that projects lined up for commissioning included the Administrative building, Faculty of Agriculture building, Lecture theatres, Faculty of Environment, and Vice Chancellor’s lodge all at the Denis Osadebay University, Asaba.
Others includes; the State High Court Complex,16km internal roads and drainages around Madonna Road area and the Okpanam – Ibusa Road both in Oshimili South and Oshimili North Local Government Areas of the state.
According to him, reprieve has come the ways of Warri residents as the Oborevwori’s administration has approved the reconstruction of some critical roads in the metropolis which includes; Upper-Lower Erejuwa, Esisi, from Warri-Sapele Road to Estate Roundabout with spur to Nana College, linking Ajamimogha in addition to supply of transformers to boost electricity in the area.
The Warri/Uvwie area has the largest project, being the 26.21 km Trans Warri – Ode Itsekiri bridges and access roads with over 15 km of drainages. The access and link road sections include Ubeji to Ode-Itsekiri Roundabout with spurs to Ijala, Ugbodede, Orugbo, Ajigba, Inorin and Usele, on one hand, and Ode-Itsekiri internal roads, on the other.
Other projects under focus in the area include the access road from Nigercat Junction on NPA Road through Izakpo Road to the New Tankers Park in Ekpan, Uvwie LGA; the DSC Roundabout link road off the Ughelli/Patani Expressway; and the Kokodiagbene Township road in Warri South. This is addiction to storm water drainage project in Warri, Uvwie and environs.
Ughelli axis has the 5.40 km bridge across Orere River with access and spurs in Orere town, and the Comrade Izeze Boulevard in Oginibo.
In Isoko South, Phase II of the Okpolo/Enwhe/Uhweru Road to link the East-West Road has been completed while work on Phases 1 and 3 are in top gear towards completion.
The projects in Governor Oborevwori’s home Okpe LGA include the construction and rehabilitation of Ugolo Okpe/Okorikpehre Road which has been completed and the Otevwe Ochuko/Omo Obiyan/Iyamu streets in Okuokoko.
Dr. Idawene explained that with these projects and others across all the local government areas of the state ongoing it is obvious that Delta state is in a safe hands hence the need to support Oborevwori’s administration.
