100 Days In Office: No Regrets Supporting Oborevwori In Delta – Latimore. …Says Better Days Ahead For Deltans

Spokesperson of Delta State Campaign Council of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2023 general elections, Olorogun Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has said that he has no regrets supporting his friend and governor of Delta State, Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, during the governorship election in the state.

He made the assertion in a live national radio network programme in Lagos on Friday, September 8, saying that it was the way of friendship to support each other in times of need and pursuit of life ambitions, adding that he made so many enemies because of his support for Oborevwori as head of political communications during the 2023 electioneering Campaigns.

Oghenesivbe noted that Elder Oborevwori, is not unaware of his enviable contributions towards the success of the governorship campaigns and electioneering engagements across the state, from 2021 to May 29, 2023, and counting, wherein he (Latimore) was publicly abused and insulted by the governor’s political detractors, and was almost physically assaulted by one of the popular governorship aspirants, Olorogun David Edevbie, on the day of party primary at Event Centre, venue of delegates accreditation in Asaba.

He assured that he will continue to support Oborevwori administration, because their friendship did not originate from political affiliation, and that it was a cordial relationship which started about 45 years ago as students in the college, adding that none of them was neither a politician nor a governor at the time, and nothing will separate them at this time.

When asked why governor Oborevwori seem to have abandoned him in the ongoing political appointments in the state, Oghenesivbe who served in Okowa’s administration as Executive Assistant on Communications from 2017 to May 29, 2023, said it’s not that the governor abandoned me, he made an offer to have me serve for the third time as Executive Assistant on Communications, an offer which I considered to be anti career growth haven served in that capacity for six years of nearly two tenures without elevation.

“Majority of Deltans and our party faithfuls, as well as Journalists in Delta State, are of the opinion that I worked very hard during the 2023 Governorship election to deserve a better appointment offer. My matter is on the lips of Deltans and the mass media community in the state.

“I hope and pray that the Governor and our national leader, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, will use their good offices to revisit my deserving appointment.

“As a Unit leader in my Ward, I delivered my unit during presidential and governirshio elections, despite stiff opposition by Labour Party, LP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC. Am without blemish from start to finish of our electionering struggles and we won.

“I am convinced beyond reasonable doubt in my God given spirit and conscience that I worked very hard towards the victory of my friend and brother, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, during the 2023 governorship election in Delta State, and in due season God shall inspire him to remember me for good.

“I will continue to wait for as long as it takes, even if I have to wait without appointment for eight years of Oborevwori’s two tenure, provided the governor is comfortable with it in his God given conscience.

As for Oborevwori’s 100 days in office, Oghenesivbe said that the governor is right on track. He constituted the state executive council, awarded some road contracts, completed and commissioned some important projects initiated by Okowa administration, he is working out robust palliatives for Deltans and shall certainly do more in the near future.

“I wish to urge governor Oborevwori to use his good office to facilitate the Palliatives process, because the present economic hardship is hitting hard on the poor masses. He has done well by adding N10,000 to salaries of civil and public servants, but the trucks load of food items must hit the streets sooner than later

“N10 billion appropriated for palliatives, if well managed, and distribution well scrutinized, will certainly go a long way to cushion hardship and reduce acute hunger bedeviling our people,” Oghenesivbe said.
