Worried by the sorry state of Ndemili Grammar School, Ndemili, Ndokwa West LGA, Delta State, the Old Students Association, NGOSA, has said plans are underway to launch a Scholarship Trust Fund to sponsor indigent, bright and exceptional students as a way to encourage students enrolment and infrastructural upgrades of the school.
In a press release signed by the association national president, Barr. Mrs. Margaret Osogbue and the chairman, golden jubilee celebrations planning committee, chief Famous Iduh and made available to journalists, noted that the 50th anniversary celebrations will be a turning point in the move to restore the loss glory of the school.
According to the press release; “the celebration will commence on 15th, September with One hundred million naira (N100,000,000) fundraising event holding at Jace-Darl Hotel and Suites, of Okpanam bypass, Okpanam, Asaba, Delta State while the anniversary celebration will hold on 16th September, at the school premises, Ndemili, Ndokwa West LGA., the celebrations will be rounded off on 17th, September 2023 with a Thanksgiving Service at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Ndemili followed by gifts presentation to the elderly in the community.”
The statement added that apart from the scholarship scheme, funds will also be deployed to the provision of power generating set for electricity supply in the school, provision of water facilities for adequate hygiene, deployed strategic programmes that will improve teaching and learning, and other critical facilities like standard science laboratory, ICT and CBT exam centres as well as principal, vice principal, staff and corper’s lodge.”
The association called on all the old students, well meaning individuals, government and corporate organisations to join hands in the project of rebuilding the school.
Dignitaries expected at the fund raising event will includes; the Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, his wife Katherine, HRM. Enyi Friday Abaja, the Ukwata 1 of Umukwata, Okwa Barr. C.I. Egwuenu, former vice chairman, platform petroleum limited and others.
