Member of the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals in Nigeria, M.Acspn, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, Esq, has said that his entire life revolves around creative writing, political propaganda management and communication strategy in media politics.
He made the disclosure during a live phone-in radio programme in Lagos on Sunday, September 24, saying that he missed the warm affections and cross fertilization of ideas he once shared with his age-long friend and governor of Delta State, Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, as a result of the unfortunate misunderstanding that is now being resolved by a prominent national leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.
Oghenesivbe, who was the Spokesperson of PDP in Delta State in the 2023 general elections, assured that his love and respect for both governor Oborevwori and national leader, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, will never diminish, no matter the trials and temptations that is offered by political power influencers, noting that as a pioneer promoter of the M.O.R.E Agenda via the mass media, he will continue to align with the governor’s administration to see it to perfect fruition.
“I was here in this programme not too long ago, and I did say that the genesis of the deadlock between me and my governor had to do with appointment. But I believe strongly that I was not diplomatic enough in pushing my interest and request, and it led to serious friction that shouldn’t have occured in the first place.
“To answer your question on the possibility of resolving the deadlock between me and my dear governor, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori; Yes, I am optimistic it will soon be over, because a highly respected and prominent national leader of our great party in the state has stepped into the matter. It is a positive sign that the deadlock will soon be over.
“Let me state it clearly that the misunderstanding is very unfortunate. We’ve never had any reason to cross each others part negatively, in the entire 45 years of our friendship. This is obviously the first time ever, due to political interest that always rear it’s head in the realm of politics.
“I have reached out to the Governor, tendered unreserved apologies, and am also aware that some of our respected party leaders in the three Senatorial Districts, as well as some Senior Journalists in the state have also appealed to the Governor on my behalf. All these put together points to the fact that all shall be well, sooner than later.
“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Latimore are inseparable. We’ve come a long way, we can no longer part ways, God forbid! He is my leader, my governor and Delta State PDP leader, and I do not intend to quit the party. I know that God is already saying something in this matter, and very soon things will fall in place for good.
“I must not fail to thank my colleagues in the media, in Delta, Lagos and across the Nigeria, for their support. I deeply appreciate you all. Let’s sustain the Aluta in high spirit,” Oghenesivbe said.
