In continuation of its oversight duties, the Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Monday, visited Ethiope West and East local government, with a promise to make good it promise to supporting the Councils advance in their mandates to the people.
Chairman of the Committee, Hon Chukwudi Dafe, who represents Ukwuani Constituency in the House, gave the assurance while addressing authorities of both Councils at their respective headquarters in Oghara, Ethiope West and Isiokolo, Ethiope East.

Hon Dafe emphasized the need for the Councils to deliver more socio-economic development across communities in the various local government areas.
He stressed that needed infrastructure must be provided to uplift the living standards of the people, even as he urged the Chairmen to align with the Renewed Hope for More Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Hon Dafe noted that he was impressed with the projects executed by the various councils, but however said there was still need for them to do more to complement the developmental efforts of the federal and state governments.
Accompanied by other members of the committee, including Oboro Preyor, Ferguson Onwo, Fred Martins, Emmanuel Sinebe, Austin Uroye, James Augoye and Isaac Anwuzia, the Lawmaker explained that the oversight visits were aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in the third tier of government.

Dafe emphasized the need for quality project delivery, and praised the Chairmen of Ethiope West and Ethiope East for their commendable score cards.
Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Council, Hon Chris Onogba, highlighted some of his administration’s achievements and commended the Lawmakers for the visit.

Onogba revealed that progress were made in both education and health sectors, as well as commerce, security and other areas which have direct impact on the wellbeing of the citizens.
For his part, Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Council, Hon. Austine Ogedegbe, said he inherited a dilapidated council secretariat and the administrative office, saying that the narratives changed after one year in office.

He stated that the administration reconstructed and furnished the chairman’s office, disclosing that a new structure comprising over thirty offices for council staff is under construction to provide a conducive working environment for the workforce.

Ogedegbe added that several other projects were ongoing across the wards in the local government area, and pledged commitment to working for the people.
