Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F. O. Oborevwori, has welcomed the proposed new Royal Palace for Udu Kingdom, describing it as a historic project that will embody the identity and aspirations of the people.
Rt Hon Oborevwori stated this in a goodwill message at the Palace Ground of Udu kingdom in Otor-Udu, during activities marking the monarch’s first coronation anniversary and the launch of the New Palace Building.
Represented by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, Governor Oborevwori said the proposed palace is more than a building.
“This project represents the history, identity, and aspirations of the Udu people. When completed, it will serve as a fitting seat of traditional authority and a lasting symbol of unity and pride for future generations,” he stated.
The Governor again congratulated His Royal Majesty, Okporua I, Ovie of Udu Kingdom, and the people of Udu on the first year on the throne.

He described the reign so far as one marked by wisdom, peace, unity, and strong commitment to the progress of the kingdom, noting that under Okporua I, Udu has upheld its rich cultural heritage while embracing development.
As the monarch marks the milestone and launches the project, Oborevwori prayed Almighty God to grant Okporua I long life, good health, wisdom and strength to continue leading Udu Kingdom with honour and distinction.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Delta State, I warmly congratulate Your Royal Majesty and the people of Udu Kingdom on this historic occasion. May your reign continue to advance peace, unity, and prosperity, and may the New Royal Palace Project serve as an enduring symbol of the kingdom’s rich heritage, resilience, and collective vision for the future.
