The Delta State Government has reiterated its commitment in partnering with lawyers in the state to enable them carry out their duties effectively.
The Secretary to the Delta state Government (SSG) Mr. Chiedu Ebie gave this assurance when he played host to the executives and members of the Nigerian Bar Association, (NBA) Asaba branch in the conference room of the SSG’s office.
Mr. Ebie said the administration of His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa placed a high premium in the rule of law and quick dispensation of Justice hence it facilitated the establishment of the Federal court of Appeal, Asaba Division which he said would bring justice closer to the door steps of Deltans as they would no longer travel long distance to other states for their appeal.
He acknowledged the role of the lawyers and their impact in the society and assured them that the state government would support the state chapter of the NBA even as he urged them to be good ambassadors of the law profession while also stating that their demands would be looked into by the state government.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of NBA Asaba chapter Mr Freddie Eruli-Ede said they were in the SSG’s office on a familiarization visit and to introduce members of the executive committee of the Association to the SSG.
The Chairman also said the association was soliciting for the help of the state government towards solving some challenges faced by them, while pledging the support of the state chapter of the NBA to the state government.
