Members of the Private Sector Participants ( PSP ) in Waste Management on Thursday embarked on the fumigation of their trucks across Delta State as precautionary measures against the global Coronavirus pandemic.
Delta State President of PSP, Comrade Lucky Adjekuko while flagging off the exercise at the JF Kennedy Field, Refinery Road, Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of the state, said that the fumigation exercise is the initiative of the Delta State PSP.
According to him, the State Government under the leadership of His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has done well in the fight against COVID 19, adding that the fumigation exercise was to compliment the efforts of the State Government in tackling the disease.
Comrade Adjekuko who is also the Chairman of the Uvwie Chapter of PSP said that; “The Coronavirus pandemic that is ravaging the world is real and this is why we have decided to embark on the fumigation of all our trucks in the state. We have directed all our members in Asaba, Agbor, Uvwie, Ughelli, Sapele, Warri and other pilot cities in the state to fumigate their trucks in order to tackle this dreaded virus”.
He added that;“Our dynamic Governor, His Excellency Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa is working very hard and we want to sincerely commend his efforts in addressing the issue of this deadly virus. We members of PSP in the State are satisfied with measures taken so far by the state government towards curtailing the killer disease and on our part, we decided to carry out the fumigation exercise to support what the state government is doing in order to protect the lives of our people. We want to by this exercise also assure all our clients that we are up to the task of cleaning up their environment as we are fully kitted more than ever before to do what we know how best to do”.
While appealing to Deltans to obey the directives of the state government in the fight against COVID 19, Comrade Adjekuko said that the sit at home order of the state government must be taken seriously, adding that, ” The lockdown of the state is a good one. We should stay safe at home and also observe the social distancing directives of the state government”.
“As part of my contribution and leadership by example, I have purchased hand sanitizers to be given free to our members. This is a measure to protect ourselves and our staff as we carry out our duties, especially this trying period we are passing through in the world. Am giving Asaba 41 bottles of hand sanitizers, Agbor 20, Uvwie 35, Ughelli 20, Sapele 25 and Warri 35. I want to implore all our members in these areas to make good use of the hand sanitizers because we must wash our hands regularly and apply the hand sanitizers for our own good”, the State PSP President said.
He commended all the PSP operators in the state and urged them to sustain the tempo of cleaning the state.
