Delta SDP Pledges Unalloyed Support To  Governor-Elect Oborevwori ****Dissociated State Exco From Any Litigation By Guber Candidate Gbagi Against Oborevwori

Leadership of the Delta State Chapter of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Wednesday, pledged unalloyed support to the Governor-elect, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and promised to key into his Advancing Delta project for the growth and development of the state.

Chairman of SDP in the State, Mr Oke Idawene who led other executive members and stakeholders of the party in the State on a congratulatory visit to the State Governor-elect and Speaker of the State Assembly in Asaba, dissociated the state exco of the party from any litigation against Oborevwori by its gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general election, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi.

Highlighting reasons and merits for the visit to the Governor elect, Sheriff Oborevwori, Chairman of SDP in the State, Mr Oke Idawene, emphasized that the leadership of the party in the state had since dumped its gubernatorial candidate for the 2023 election, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, saying it is not part of the case instituted against Oborevwori at the election petition tribunal.

Mr Idawene stated that the state exco were in agreement to applying officially to the tribunal that they are not part of any litigations against Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori victory, disclosing that the visit is calculated to tell the world that they did not do it in hiding as well as identify with the coming administration.

He affirmed the support of the leadership of the party at ensuring that Oborevwori succeeds as Governor of Delta State, saying that they were ready to testify at the tribunal as agents of the party.

Mr Idawene stated that despite obvious attacks, the state SDP exco will stand with the Governor elect and will not defer in their support as Delta State must move forward.

The event provided the Governor elect another opportunity to restate his commitment to running all inclusive government as Governor of Delta State come 29th May 2023.

Responding to the comments of Mr Idawene, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, described the action of the SDP executive in the state as a welcome development, saying it is something Delta State will never forget.

Oborevwori again thanked all Deltans for the organic love for him, stressing that to win 21 out of the 25 local government areas of the state was unprecedented.

He said Deltans have spoken and the victory is for all the people, pointing out that as a Pan-Deltan, he would serve with every sense of responsibility and inclusiveness as Governor.

The Governor elect thanked the SDP officials for the visit and promised that together with all relevant stakeholders Delta State would be taken to an enviable height.

The Deputy Speaker, Ochor Christopher Ochor and some other members of the State Assembly joined the Governor elect and Speaker of the House to receive the SDP officials.
