Chairman of the Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Barrister Kingsley Esiso, today Wednesday 10th February, 2021 presented party flags to candidates of the party, for the forthcoming council elections, at the party Secretariat Asaba.
A statement by the State publicity Secretary of the party, Dr Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza said the flags presentation event was very successful, and that it also marked the official flag off of campaign activities across the twenty five local government areas in the state, torwards March 6 elections.
He however emphasised that Covid-19 protocols; wearing of facemasks, hand sanitizing and reasonable social distancing shall be enforced during campaigns, adding that candidates and party leaders must ensure that compliance is total.
Mobile Courts have been constituted by the state Chief Judge, Justice Marshall Umukoro, to try violators of Covid-19 protocols across the state, with effect from Monday February 8, 2021.
The party advised members and Deltans to fully comply to avoid prosecution and subsequent sanctions in accordance with enabling Laws.
Esiso while speaking at the flag off ceremony said PDP is ready once again to sweep the polls, as the only party loved and cherished by the good people of Delta State, a party that served and still serving the people well, kept promises, created jobs and wealth under the leadership of the state party leader and governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa Okowa, and still counting.
“I urge party faithfuls and stakeholders to work for the party’s victory. DESIEC has assured Deltans that it will conduct a transparent, free and fair elections.
“There are other political parties and their candidates in the race, which is why we must work very hard to deliver our party and candidates across the twenty five local government council areas,” Esiso said.
All candidates received their flags including Hon Victor Ofobrukueta who emerged as PDP council election candidate in Ethiope East Local Government Area, after a slight adjustment carried out by the party.
It can be safely asserted that Ofobrukueta, today began his journey to Ethiope East Council headquarters to succeed the immediate past Chairman of Council, Chief Mrs Faith Majemite, described as a team player and good public servant, who did her best with the available resources. She stands tall among her equals.
It is believed that Ofobrukueta Victor will build on the achievements of his predecessor, having served under her as Supervisory Councillor on Health and later as Leader of the Council’s legislative arm.
