DTHA Retreat: Oborevwori Charges Management Team To Brace Up To Task Ahead.

Another round of retreat to further equip management cadre of the Delta State House of Assembly with relevant tools for enhanced legislative performance has been held with a call on participants to brass up to the task ahead.

Governor elect and Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori in a goodwill message to the opening ceremony, said capacity building is key to achieving optimum results in the State Legislature.

The Speaker and Governor elect, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, explained that the retreat was to deepen participants’ understanding and appreciation of their roles as major critical success factor in the good governance of the state.

Oborevwori promised that the leadership of the Assembly would continue to consolidate on previous gains of training and retraining of the workforce by implementing policies and programmes that would further deepen the working knowledge of staff.

While wishing the participants fruitful and successful deliberations, the Speaker expressed optimism that knowledge acquired will further strengthen efficiency, effectiveness and productivity among the management staff of the House.

The Clerk of the House, Mrs Lyna Ocholor commended the Speaker, Rt Hon Oborevwori, principal officers and members of the Assembly for always providing platform for staff to share experience, information and ideas.

Mrs Ocholor noted that the retreat was to further strategize on ways to improving performance of the management team of the Assembly.

The Resource persons, Ambassador Jerry Ugokwe, John Mutu and Pastor Adun Afolabi, encouraged participants to reciprocate the unique efforts of the leadership of the Delta State Assembly by availing themselves opportunities provided by the retreat to enhance their knowledge and performance of duties.

Some of the Management team who spoke, including Mr Silvester Olorogun, Smart Edogie, Dr Uche Okolo and Mrs Betty Ojomo, paid glowing tributes to the leadership of the Assembly for sustained commitment to capacity development in the state legislature.

They said knowledge gain in the training programme would go a long way in enhancing performance of their duties both on individual or collective basis.

The three day retreat, holding in Asaba ends on Wednesday.
