Delta Deputy Speaker, Akpowowo Reacts To 979.2 Billion Naira Passed Budget **Heads Panel On Suspended Lawmakers

Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Arthur Akpowowo has reacted with excitement the passage of the 979.2 billion naira Appropriation bill, tagged Budget of Fiscal Consolidation.

Rt Hon Akpowowo in a statement said he was thrilled by the speed and successfully legislative actions on the Appropriation bill, saying that the 2025 budget will undoubtedly drive growth and development in Delta state.

According to the Deputy Speaker, the passed budget of Fiscal Consolidation, reflects commitment of the state government to improving the lives of Deltans, stressing that he is confident that it will have positive impact on the economy and infrastructure.

He however acknowledged the enormous responsibility ahead in the implementation of the budget and charged Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs of the state government to ensure they access the fund and utilized efficiently and effectively for the benefit of Deltans.

He said “As Deputy Speaker, I pledge to work closely with Mr Speaker, and other stakeholders to guarantee that this budget translates into tangible benefits for our citizens.

“We’ll join forces with His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State to maintain transparency and accountability in the implementation process, and ensuring that every naira is judiciously spent.

“This budget is a testament to our dedication to the welfare of Deltans, and we’re eager to see the positive change it will bring to our state.”, Akpowowo stated.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Speaker who represents Ethiope East Constituency in the House, has been assigned to oversee investigation of gross misconduct alleged to have been committed by two suspended members of the State Legislature.

The two members who were suspended for 14 legislative days are Hon Chukwudi Dafe, Ukwuani and Hon Oboro Preyor, Bomadi Constituency.

The Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor announced the setting up of the 3 member adhoc committee to investigate the alleged gross misconduct during Wednesday’s plenary of the House.

Guwor named Hon Bridget Anyafulu, Oshimili South and Hon Benson Obire, Warri South 2 as members of the adhoc committee, while Mr Smart Edoge, a Deputy Clerk in the House will serve as the Committee Clerk.
