The Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide, under the leadership of its President General Barr. Chief Ese Gam Owe, on Sunday, 27th September 2026, paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, (Odidigborigbo of Africa, former Governor of Delta State, at his residence.
The visit was aimed at strengthening the bonds of unity among Urhobo leaders and stakeholders and engaging His Excellency on issues concerning the progress, development, unity and collective advancement of the Urhobo Nation.
During the meeting, the UPU leadership discussed the need for greater cooperation among Urhobo leaders, sustained unity across the various kingdoms and communities, youth development, economic advancement and the preservation of the cultural identity and interests of the Urhobo people.
The Union emphasized that the progress of the Urhobo Nation requires collective responsibility, constructive dialogue, mutual respect and the willingness of leaders and stakeholders to work together in the common interest of the people.
His Excellency, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, received the UPU Worldwide delegation with warmth, love and exceptional hospitality. He expressed his appreciation for the visit and welcomed the initiative of the Union to engage with Urhobo leaders and elders on matters of common interest.
The UPU Worldwide appreciates His Excellency for the warm reception and valuable engagement. The Union recognizes the importance of the experience and contributions of past leaders in building a stronger and more united Urhobo Nation.
The visit reaffirmed the commitment of UPU Worldwide to unity, peace, development, responsible leadership and the collective advancement of the Urhobo Nation.
The Union therefore calls on Urhobo sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora to continue to embrace unity, dialogue and cooperation in pursuit of a more prosperous and united Urhobo Nation.
