Politics has become an integral part of the life of Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa. And if there is any craft he knows best to exhibit, it is that of winning elections to the dismay of his detractors
He exhibits enormous skills in political engineering and has been in the political radar for nearly three decades of remarkable success story and still counting. Okowa climbed through the steps in leadership ladder from base to the top. His name is on the lips of Nigerians; as a state governor with enviable track records.
In regional politics, Okowa is the incumbent Chairman of South-South Governors Forum, and in the realm of national politics, he excelled in his assignment as the Chairman of PDP Nonselective and Elective conventions.
Okowa’s craftsmanship in politics and ability to execute complex leadership assignments came to limelight at the PDP national convention in Port Harcourt wherein the former Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, emerged as the party’s Presidential candidate in 2019.
The PH PDP convention was adjudged the best ever in the history of such political exercise since the advent of constitutional democracy in Nigeria. It was applauded by Nigerians across the country; political leaders of opposition parties; and the Nigerian Press because of the high level of transparency, organisational strategies, coordination, implementation and delivery. It was awesome!
Recently, governor Okowa hosted the Southern Nigeria Governors Forum, comprising of all the governors in South-South, South-West and South-East States, irrespective of political divide. The decisions reached at the meeting is now popularly referred to as the “Asaba Accord.” All of these landmark track records in political leadership attests to the pedigree, integrity, capacity, abilities and ingenuity of Okowa’s well calculated steps in partisan politics and public service.
It is therefore very safe to assert that governor Okowa is an enigma in State and National politics. knowing what to do at the right time has placed him far and above his peers and detractors in the political milieu.
He is a man of few words, very economical with verbal expressions. His baby-face, smart and ever youthful innocent looks also reveals his pleasant and responsible lifestyle, and he could pass for a youth. But the truth is that governor Okowa is a proud grandfather.
Gov Okowa’s penetrating audacious voice consistently gets people on their toes, working creatively together to get things done as planned, the secret of the enviable success story of this administration. He is divinely endowed with fascinating leadership charisma, uncommon grace and wisdom.
The platinum governor of Delta State, is a man of peace and an apostle of peaceful coexistence, oneness in Christ and collaborative service to society; the state and country, Nigeria. It must be stated that his gentility is not an expression of cowardice, for he is a Lion of some sort when it comes to driving set out goals to fruition.
It follows that governor Okowa have what it takes to work through daunting challenges and shine forth at the end of every task. The word “dogged” may not be out of place to describe his propensity, strength of character and visionary headship. He is a leader with a big heart.
He is a promise keeper and does not make empty promises to achieve his personal or political or government objectives. He says it as it is. He is never a man to be intimidated, for he does not succumb to intimidation of any shape or size, no matter the fortification of his detractors.
In sum total, the EKWUME GBURUGBURU and the OCHUKO R’URHOBO of Urhobo Nation, is a man of the people, a team player, a grass rooted and well grounded politician who knows when, where and how to pull the right strings to accomplish goals. He is indeed a leader of leaders, and an accomplished political strategist.
Stand with Governor Okowa, he will surely lead PDP Delta to a landslide electioneering victory in Delta State, come 2023.
The best will emerge, and only the best is good enough for the good people of Delta State.
