Delta Commissioner For Secondary Education Ezewu Identifies Negative Peer Influence , Other Factors Militating Against Children

Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education,Mrs . Rose Ezewu has identified negative peer group influence as one of the critical factors militating against the success of children in the society.

Ezewu stated this while speaking during an advocacy visits to schools across the state.

She admonished students to desist from indulgence in negative lifestyle that could ruin their lives, adding that youths must shun drug abuse, sexual immorality and cultism among other vices .

Ezewu, who stated that children of nowadays in most cases succumbed to peer group influence in order to feel accepted by their peer group, saying that it was unnecessary for them to be influenced in such way negatively.

Meanwhile , the Principal of Government Model Secondary School, Asaba , Dr.(Mrs.) Obiajulu Eboka has commended the State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education in particular for considering it important to conduct mentorship programme for students on yearly basis.

Dr.(Mrs ) Eboka, who made the commendation in Asaba when the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro accompanied by the Director of Schools in the ministry, Mrs. Clementina Ojumah visited the school, pledged to continue to always give the children positive reorientation about life .

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Augustine Oghoro who urged students in the area to always develop positive attitude to learning, emphasised that the strong need for students to embrace reading culture.

Oghoro told the students that they now had every opportunity to attain greatness in life , adding that the ministry would do everything humanly possible to impact positively on the children.

Schools visited by the Commissioner included Erho Secondary school Abraka .
Ethiope East Local Government Area, Umutu Mixed Secondary School, Obi -Obeti Secondary.
Obi-obeti all in Ukwuani Local Government Area and Ndemili Girls Senior Secondary School, Ndemili , Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State among others.
