The first phase of renovation work has been impressively completed at the St. Theresa’s Maternity and Hospital Issele-Uku, giving room for the commencement of the second phase almost immediately.
The tastefully rebuilt frontal building of the hospital impressed the Coordinator of the St. Theresa’s Maternity and Hospital Issele-Uku Building Project Committee, Dr Augustine Nwabueze who sent word from United States of America, commending everyone who had supported the project one way or the other, including those regularly on site managing and supervising the ongoing project.
Nwabueze prayed that God would bless them abundantly and give the partners more grace to support the finishing of the second phase.
He therefore, called on well meaning individuals within Issele-Uku, Aniocha North and Delta State in general who are still contemplating of what to do, to key in and be a part of the project as a way of giving back to society.
The US based medical doctor said, the fundraising committee still needs nothing less than #40 million to complete the second phase of the project before the hospital can commence full operation as a standard health institution.
Meanwhile, those spoken to with respect to the quality of work done at the hospital, appreciated Rev. Frs. Jude Onyebadi and Norbert Uchuno for their sense of urgency and quality in ensuring that the once shadow of itself hospital comes alive again with better structures and state-of-the-art medical equipment.
Nonetheless, the brand dimension St. Theresa’s Maternity and Hospital has taken will enable the thoroughbred Resident Doctor Seun to more than ever before, perform optimally as one of the best in his field in the entire Aniocha North Local Government Area.
St. Theresa’s Maternity and Hospital started as a Maternity, built by Catholic Reverend Sisters to help with the delivery of pregnant women in Issele-Uku and environs. It later metamorphosed into a full fledged Hospital and it has existed for over 60 years with many of today’s well-to-do indigenes and non indigenes of Issele-Uku either being born or at one point or the other received life saving treatment there.
One of the beneficiaries of the hospital’s care at child birth and infancy is Dr Augustine Nwabueze, a US based Issele-Uku indigene. He once came to Nigeria where he visited the hospital only to discover that the once viable medical institution had become terribly deplorable and a shadow of itself in terms of physical structure.
He took interest in rebuilding it especially when it has remained one hospital that is regularly patronised yet affordable as a result of the expertise of the young Resident Doctor, Seun and of course the management acumen of the hospital’s Board Director, Very Rev. Fr. Jude Onyebadi.
The above narrative was how the St. Theresa’s Maternity and Hospital Issele-Uku Building Project Committee came about, coordinated by Dr Augustine Nwabueze from USA and the result has been awesome with first phase of project already completed and the second phase taking off almost immediately if the committee is able to raise another #40 million.
