PDP Primaries: Delta Lawmaker Izeze meets Ughelli South Statutory Delegates, Calls For Massive Support To Emerge Party’s Candidate.

Ahead of the 7th May 2022 scheduled PDP primaries, the Member Representing Ughelli South in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon (Comrade) Reuben Izeze and his team have met with statutory delegates for the election in Ughelli South local government area to solicit for their votes.

Hon Izeze told the statutory PDP delegates, which include local government party executives and elected Councilors, that he is seeking reelection into the Delta Assembly for the overall interest of the entire people of Ughelli South local government area.

Saying that he enjoys an overwhelming support from majority of constituents, the Lawmaker appealed to the delegates to vote enmass for him at the party primaries to emerge the candidate of the PDP in the general election.

“I am before you this day to declare my interest for the 2023 Ughelli South Delta Assembly seat. Our great people of Ughelli South have always yearn for quality representation at the state legislature and I want to once again present myself for that service to the people. This I can not achieve without you electing me as the candidate of the party in the general election. I therefore solicit for your block votes as we collectively make the dream come through”.

Izeze maintained that he remains a candidate to beat in the Ughelli South State Assembly election, stressing that the party can not afford to loose a stronghold by fielding candidate that can not face the opposition party.

The Lawmaker pointed out that unnecessary sentiments had caused the downfall of political parties, stating that PDP must send its best in the 2023 general elections to sustain it leadership in the state as well as contribute meaningfully to the rescue mission of the party at the center.

He said “It is your responsibility as delegates to use your votes wisely as you are the future of a greater and better Ughelli South. Quality a legislator is very important. As a ranking member of the House, I have provided effective and robust representation as promised during my electioneering campaign. Infrastructural development has been unprecedented. No electoral ward in Ughelli South that the government of Delta State has not touched. I have a compendium of Ughelli South development plan. I know the challenges of the 63 communities in the constituency. I strived very hard to influence adequate budgetary provisions towards addressing them. I make political opportunities available, with no special interest of personal economic benefits. I have represented you well and I know you know it. Most of you who know me, know that I am a straight forward person and had always protected the larger interest of the people”

Reflecting on his activities as a legislator in the Delta Assembly, Hon Izeze stressed that even critics can attest to his sterling qualities and outstanding performance in the house, but could choose to say otherwise due to political interest.

He however pointed out that the feeling of few individuals cannot jeopardize the yearnings and aspirations of majority of constituents who have always craved for the best for the constituency.

“In my six and eight months membership of the State Assembly, i have led the sponsorship of eight private members bills, including Delta State Anti Grazing Law, after three different motions of urgent public importance on the matter because of its great concern to the people of Ughelli South. I have co-sponsored over forty bills. No bill, including executive bills or motion brought on the floor of the House that my inputs will not be felt. That is the job I sought your mandate for and what I come to seek again. Experience is key in legislative assignment. Ughelli South need focused, intelligent, courageous, bold and one with existing relationships with the power blocks to provide the people desired quality representation”, Izeze emphasized.

The Lawmaker, who is the Chairman, Assembly Committee on Lands and Survey, commended the immense support of stakeholders in the constituency, saying that their collaboration have been so rewarding as it had promoted peace, unity and development in the council area.

He said he had done his best in distributing constituency projects across the two blocks in Ughelli South, and that within the limit of the tiny resources he has carried out some empowerment programs, saying “i don’t forget a fovour. Those that kept utmost good faith can never regret it.

Izeze also expressed appreciation to party leaders and elders at the state and national levels for the confidence reposed on him, saying that his recent national assignment for the party in Abuja was another great opportunity to gather more experience in party politics.

He dispelled rumours of any Governorship or House of Representatives ambition, stressing that the support he seeks is to return to the Delta State House of Assembly.

Some supporters who spoke said Hon Reuben Izeze had remained a source of inspiration to the younger generation, stressing that his pedigree will always earn him landslide victory at the polls.

They called for massive support for the lawmaker, who they described as one of the most vibrant legislators in the present Delta State Assembly.

“Izeze is not only young, but very vibrant in the present Assembly. His debates on bills and motions have been very outstanding. He is very out spoken. He is not a bench warmer like some of his colleagues. He made Ughelli South stand tall in the Delta Assembly. His choice was the result of the people’s crave for the best. I must commend him for again making himself available to serve”, Josephine Uduaha, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Development.

The Chairman, PDP Ughelli South, Hon Michael Oshetigho commended the eloquent presentation of Hon Izeze and for reawakening their sense of reasoning, saying that Ughelli South would never send a dull-ant to represent them at the State Assembly.

Reminding all that power blong to God, Hon Oshetigho said “there is no doubt of intellectual capacity of Hon Izeze. Ughelli south will not send mumu to the Assembly. Reuben is a straight forward person and must urged him to remain steadfast in his desire for a better society”.

For his part, the Leader, Ughelli South legislative arm, Hon Junior Arhavwarien also expressed optimism for a greater Ughelli South, emphasizing the need for the constituency to send it best to the House.
