Residents of Agogo Layout along Ogunu Road Ogunu Community in Warri South Local Government Area have appealed to Delta State Government to prevail on the Contractor handling Agogo Layout -Ogunu Road project to mobilise to site before the rainy season.
The residents noted that the deplorable state of the road has made it difficult for them to access their homes during the rainy season.
Agogo Layout along Ogunu Road Ogunu Community in Warri South Local Government Area is one of the popular roads in Ogunu Community as it plays host to two schools, a hospital, and tens of shops as well as houses hundreds of residents of Ogunu Community made famous by the Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC.
Accessing Agogo Layout-Ogunu Road is usually a nightmare to motorists and commuters during the rainy season due to its deplorable state.
The joy of residents knew no bound when Delta State Government awarded the construction of the road in 2022 but their joy was shortlived as about a year after the contractor is yet to mobilise to site.
Speaking on the development, a former Chairman of Ogunu Community, Hon Gift Ese-Deduwa said accessing the road during the rainy season was a herculean task.
He noted since the road was awarded in 2022 through the Warri-Uvwie Development Agency the contractor only came to take measurement of the road and has not shown up since then.
Hon Ese-Deduwa appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who according to him is known for his huge development stride to prevail on the contractor to mobilise to site before the rainy season commences.
Highlighting the benefits of the road, Mrs Rita Oki-Yesufu, Oritsetsola Megbele and MR. MORRISON MOMANI said the deplorable state of the road has hindered business activities in the area as well as damaged their vehicles.
They appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to re-award the contract to a competent company to handle.
