We Will Be Thorough In The Consideration Of The 2024 Budget Estimate-Delta Speaker 

Delta State House of Assembly has promised to be thorough and expeditious in the consideration of the 2024 Budget for the prosperity of Deltans.

The Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor made the promise during the Wednesday’s Budget presentation by Governor Sheriff Oberevwori at the floor of the State Assembly.

The Speaker, Emomotimi Guwor said the State Legislature through its oversight duty, will continue to engage Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, of government in the implementation of the Budget as passed by the State Legislature.

Rt Hon Guwor urged the various MDAs to cooperate with House Committees during their Budget defense sessions.

He said the Assembly is ready to beam its searchlight on government institutions by way of its oversight in a bid to ensuring full compliance with the Appropriation Bill when passed into law and assented to.

The Speaker congratulated the Governor on the achievements recorded in his one hundred days in office on the 8th of September.

He also commended Rt Hon Oborevwori for the groundbreaking of the construction of three flyovers, cloverleaf and pedestrian bridges in Effurun and Warri metropolis as well as successful hosting of the 7th edition of the National Youths games in which Delta State maintained its dominance in the sports industry.

Guwor pledged the commitment of the State legislature to on behalf of Deltans, meaningfully engage the executive by monitoring and enhancing implementation of the MORE agenda.

Deputy Speaker, Arthur Akpowhowho, who addressed the House after the historic laying of the Appropriation Bill before the Mace, the symbol of the legislature by the Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, described the presentation of the budget for the 2024 fiscal year as apt and timely.

Akpowhowho commended the Governor for the concise nature and explicit presentation of the financial document and assured of the irrevocable commitment of the House to speedily attend to the budget.

The Deputy Speaker, on behalf of himself and others expressed appreciation to Rt Hon Oborevwori for keeping faith with the MORE agenda of the state government.

The appropriation bill was received for further legislative action following a motion to that effect by the House Majority Leader, Hon Emeka Nwaobi and was adopted.

The budget presentation was witnessed by top functionaries of the Delta State government, including, the State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme.
