Delta Assembly Calls For Memoranda On SIP Bill

Delta State House of Assembly has called for Memoranda and contributions from the public on the “Delta State Investment Programme, SIP Bill.

The call is contained in a statement signed by the Chairman, House Committee On Housing, Women Affairs, Girl Child Entrepreneurship and Humanitarian Support Services, Hon. Bridget Anyafulu and made available to newsmen in Asaba.

Hon Anyafulu in the statement, noted that the committee would particularly welcome written contributions from interested organizations such as the Ministry of Women Affairs, Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development as well as Ministry of Trade and Investment, Non Governmental Organizations and the general public.

She further stated that all memoranda which should be enclosed in sealed envelopes addressed to the Committee marked “Delta State Social Investment Programme Bill” should be forwarded to the committee chairman’s office on or before Thursday, December 14, 2023.

The anticipated contributions, Hon Anyafulu further stated, should focus on key areas such as; Coordination and equitable distribution of resources for the achievement of poverty alleviation in the state as well as improvement of the socio-economic conditions of citizens of the with emphasis on the rural communities, physically challenged, orphans and underprivileged privileged in the society.

It would be recalled that the bill which has since sailed through second reading on the floor of the State Assembly, was referred to the House joint Committee on Housing, Women Affairs, Girl Child Entrepreneur and Humanitarian Support Services, Trade and Investment and Special Committee on Bills for further legislative actions.
