Delta 2024 Budget, A Great Deal For Deltans… Deputy Speaker Akpowowo

Delta State Assembly, Thursday passed the amended budget size of Seven hundred and twenty four billion, nine hundred and seventy nine nine million naira for the services of the state government in the 2024 fiscal year.

Reacting to the development, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Arthur Akpowowo, said Delta State is on the threshold of a great deal in 2024.

The Deputy Speaker in a session with Assembly Correspondents after the third reading and subsequent passage of the Appropriation bill, said the budget has huge provisions for capital projects.

Akpowowo maintained that with such provisions there would be more infrastructural growth in the state, disclosing that twenty four percent of the budget is tied to the economic sector.

He said education is of great importance in the state, hence the provision of over forty six billion naira to the education sector, stressing that a lot would be achieved for the state in 2024.

The Deputy Speaker expressed the hope that the state economy would be strengthened in line with the MORE agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Akpowowo said there would be more positive oversight aimed at ensuring that Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the state government live up to expectations.

“We want to thank God for giving us the strength to perform our constitutional duty with this short frame of time. I must congratulate Mr Speaker and members, particularly the Chairman, Finance and Appropriation Committee for a job well done.

“We have passed the budget, budget of hope and optimism, I know for sure that Deltans are in for a great deal in 2024.

“ You can see that the budget has huge provisions for capital projects. It is all tied to economic development. Ministry of works alone has over one hundred and fifty billion. Education that is of great importance has over forty six billion. A lot of work will be done next year in terms of infrastructure development”, Akpowowo assured.
