A public hearing on a Bill to Amend the Delta State Regulation of Private Veterinary Clinics Law, 2006, holds this Thursday, 13th June 2024.
The public hearing being organized by the Assembly’s Joint Committee on Health and Agriculture and Natural Resources, is scheduled for 12noon at the Press Centre of the Delta State House of Assembly Complex, Okpanam Road, Asaba.
A statement by the Chairman, House Committee on Health, Hon Ferguson Onwo, disclosed that the bill was referred to the joint committee on 14th May 2024, for further legislative processing.
Hon Onwo therefore on behalf of the Joint Committee, called for input from key stakeholders, including the Delta State Ministries of Health, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Justice, as well as the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, Delta State Chapter, Civil Society Organizations, and other public and private sector stakeholders.
The statement reads “This is to inform the general public that at its sitting of Tuesday, 14th May, 2024, the Delta State House of Assembly referred the Bill for a Law to Amend the Regulation of Private Veterinary Clinics Law, 2006 and Other Matters Connected Therewith to a Joint Committee on Health and, Agriculture and Natural Resources for further legislative scrutiny and action.
“Pursuant to its mandate, the Joint Committee will welcome inputs either written or oral from the Delta State Ministries of Health; Agriculture and Natural Resources; and Justice as well as the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (Delta State Chapter), Civil Society Organizations and other Stakeholders from the Public and Private Sectors.
“Consequently, Interested individuals, organizations or Bodies are to reach the Committee Clerk, House Committee on Health at the Public Petitions Office of the Assembly and All Memoranda on the Bill should be in 12 copies, enclosed in sealed envelope, addressed to the “Chairman, House Committee on Health” and marked “Regulation of Private Veterinary Clinics (amendment) Bill”; and to reach the Committee Clerk, House Committee on Health on or before Tuesday, 11th June, 2024.
“The Public Hearing on the above mentioned Bill is slated for Thursday, 13th June, 2024 at 12pm.
“Venue is the Press Centre of the Delta State House of Assembly Complex, Okpanam Road, Asaba, Delta State”.
