The Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has congratulated two members of the Conference on their victories in the just-concluded APC primaries across the country.
In a statement issued on Friday, Guwor celebrated Rt. Hon. Engr. Salihu Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, for emerging as the APC governorship candidate for Kwara State in the 2027 general elections.
He also felicitated Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, on securing the APC senatorial ticket for Daura Senatorial District of Katsina State.
Guwor described the victories as evidence of the growing influence of legislative leaders in Nigeria’s democratic institutions and a clear endorsement of their service records at the state level.
“These victories speak to what happens when competence, loyalty, and grassroots connection meet the political process. Rt. Hon. Danladi-Salihu and Rt. Hon. Daura have distinguished themselves as Speakers who combined legislative stability with people-centered leadership. Their emergence is a reward for years of consistent service to their states and the party,” Guwor said.
The Conference Chairman noted that the victories further strengthen the bridge between the legislature and the executive arm, stressing that lawmakers who understand governance from the inside are well-positioned to drive development at higher levels.
Rt. Hon. Guwor, whose statement was made available to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, urged the two Speakers to remain focused and to use the momentum to consolidate party unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
He added that the Conference would continue to support its members in contributing meaningfully to national development and party cohesion.
“The Conference of Speakers stands firmly with you both. We are confident that you will carry the same discipline, humility, and commitment to service that defined your speakership into the next phase of your political journey,” Guwor stated.
