Scorecard: Delta Speaker Guwor Expresses Gratitude for 3 Years of Peace, Progress in 8th Assembly

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has attributed the successful completion of three years by the 8th Assembly to God’s faithfulness, mercy, and unfailing love.

Guwor stated this on Sunday, June 14, 2026, during a thanksgiving service held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 34 Headquarters, Asaba, to commemorate the third anniversary of the 8th Assembly inaugurated on June 13, 2023.

Quoting Psalm 124:1-2, the Speaker said: “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, we would not be celebrating this milestone today”, adding that since inauguration, God had granted the House wisdom, unity, good health and uncommon grace to discharge constitutional duties.

He noted that the 8th Assembly had enjoyed remarkable peace, stability, and cooperation among members, which translated to purposeful lawmaking and effective oversight.

“Through God’s grace, the House has considered and passed several bills and resolutions aimed at promoting good governance, economic growth, social development, and the welfare of our citizens”, he said.

Rt Hon Guwor who doubles as Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, commended the harmonious working relationship between the Legislature, Executive, and Judiciary, saying that the synergy had contributed significantly to the progress and stability of Delta State.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori for unwavering support and commitment to the development of Delta State as well as the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, the State Executive Council, and the Chief Judge Delta State, for sustaining cordial inter-governmental relations.

The Speaker also applauded members of the 8th Assembly for their commitment, maturity, and collective resolve in advancing the legislative agenda and upholding the trust of Constituents.

Rt Hon Guwor thanked Deltans for their trust, assuring the House’s continued commitment to providing quality representation and responsive legislation.

He also thanked the officiating minister, RCCG, Region 34, Asaba, Pastor John Oyomah, for an inspiring, thought-provoking and Spirit-filled message, that reminded lawmakers of their responsibility as stewards of public trust.

Looking ahead, the Speaker said the Assembly would seek God’s continued guidance for the remaining one year of the 3rd Assembly.

Citing Proverbs 3:5-6, Guwor said the House has rededicates itself to integrity, accountability, transparency, and selfless service.

“As we offer thanksgiving unto God, may He continue to bless Delta State, grant wisdom to our leaders, preserve the peace and unity of our State, and prosper the works of our hands”, he prayed.

The thanksgiving service was attended by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, his wife, Tobore, the wife of the Deputy Governor, Dame Katrine Onyeme, former Governor James Ibori and Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, immediate past Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, serving members of the National Assembly, Lawmakers, other top government officials, traditional rulers, party leaders, and constituents across the 29 state constituencies.
