Delta Lawmaker Calls For Memoranda On Urban Development Bill

The Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Urban Renewal is calling for public inputs on a bill for a law to provide for the Administration of Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Development, Urban Renewal, Building Control Activities, and the Establishment of Urban and Renewal Board and Local Planning Authority.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon Oboro Preyor in a statement, said the Committee would entertain written contributions from interested organisations and persons including the the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Delta State.

Others include, the State Commissioner for Environment, Commissioner for Urban Renewal, and Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Development and parastatal under the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Urban Development.

Also expected to submit Memoranda are Professional Bodies, Civil Engineering and Environmental Health Officers and other stakeholders from the public and the private sectors.

Hon Preyor who is the Deputy Majority Leader of the House and Member Representing Bomadi Constituency, explained that the Committee would not be able to organise a Public Hearing because of the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.

He said fifteen copies of the Memoranda which should be enclosed in sealed envelope and addressed to the Chairman, House Committee on Urban Renewal, should be submitted on or before the end of work on Friday, 24th July, 2020.

The Lawmaker enjoined persons willing to give oral testimony to contact the Clerk of the Committee, Mr John Oveh in the Legislative Department, Delta State House of Assembly Complex, Asaba.
