Delta Assembly Calls For Memoranda On HIV-AIDS Anti Discrimination And Protection Bill

The Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Health is calling for memoranda from members of the public on the Delta State HIV-AIDS Anti Discrimination and Protection Bill.

A statement from the Committee signed by its Chairman, Hon Austin Uroye, said the expected memoranda became necessary ahead of a public hearing on the bill scheduled for 11am on Thursday, 22nd October 2020, at the Press Center, Delta State House of Assembly Complex, Asaba .

According to the statement, memorandum is expected from the Delta State Ministries of Health, Justices, Women and Social Development, the Hospital Management Board, Delta State Agency for the Control of HIV-AIDS as well as other stakeholders.

It said interested individuals, organizations or bodies are by the notice requested to reach the Secretary of the House Committee on Health, Mr Emmanuel Nwabudike at the Public Petition Office, Delta State House of Assembly Complex, and submit 12 copies of their proposed inputs on or before Wednesday, 21st October, 2020.

The statement added that the call for memorandums is to ensure that the bill is all encompassing and achieve its purpose of reducing discrimination against people living with HIV-AIDS and ensure that their rights are protected.

The Delta State HIV-AIDS Anti Discrimination and Protection Bill was read the second time last month on the floor of the State House of Assembly before it was committed to the House Committee on Health for further legislative actions.
