Truth Chapel Passes Vote Of Confidence On NUJ Chairman, Ikeogwu As He Commends State Government, Others In Delta

The Truth Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Delta State, led by its chairman, Comrade Dorathy Mbasen Uba, has passed a vote of absolute confidence in the leadership of the NUJ in the state.

Comrade Mbasen stated this at the temporary press centre of the union in Asaba, the state capital.

She said that Comrade Ikeogwu as the Chairman of the NUJ in Delta State has shown rare leadership capacity at piloting the affair of the union in the state, adding that it had become necessary for every recognised practising journalists in the state to support the council in its drive to take the union to greater heights in the state and beyond.

Comrade Mbasen maintained that the Ikeogwu leadership of the union had brought pride to the state, nothing that it had attracted the hosting of the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the union for the first time to the state since its creation in 1991.

Responding, Comrade Ikeogwu thanked the leadership of the Truth Chapel for the visit, saying that the visit and the confidence resposed in his leadership of the union in the state would greatly inspire him to do more towards taking the union to the envisaged heights in the state, even as he called on members still on the fence to come down and join him on the arduous task of not only placing the union on the right course of growth, but ensuring the actualisation of the Stronger Delta vision of the Okowa Administration through incisive and constructive reportages of the policy drive of the state government.

He used the occasion to thank the state government for the wonderful support given the council of the union in hosting the NEC in the state, adding that the state government had also shown great commitment in the welfare of the union by embarking on a final completion of a befitting secretariat of the union in Asaba, the state capital, just as he appreciated the warmth support of the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, in the hosting of the NEC in the state.

Comrade Ikeogwu specially thanked the Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, for being a wonderful host during the NEC meeting in the state, just as he appreciated the support of the Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, to the the governor and very many others who made the hosting of the NEC meeting successful and memorable in the state.
