CEPEJ Donates Office Accommodation To Peace Institute In Delta

A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), has donated an office accommodation to the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR) at its headquarters in Osubi on Friday 18th June, 2021.

National Coordinator, CEPEJ, Comrade Sherrif Mulade, said the donation was part of the NGO’s memorandum of understanding (M.O.U) to partner in stakeholders in key areas of peace-building, conflict resolution and development of society.

Mulade said the times were demanding as Nigeria presently faced complex challenges that had what he referred to as profound implications for peace, security and inequality.

For his part, the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) of the CEPEJ, Dr Godwin Orhadawhe, emphasized the need for the media to be part of peace-building process.

Orhadawhe, however appealed to media practitioners not to over exaggerate the peace and security situation in the society in order not to cause panic or more havoc.

The Director General, IPCR, Prof. Tswah Bakut, thanked Comrade Mulade for the office accommodation, stating that his organization was willing to partner with CEPEJ to bring peace to the Niger Delta region.

Prof. Bakut said the CEPEJ and the institute had similar mandate, which he said was aimed at ensuring peace and understanding prevailed among the various communities and tribes in the Niger Delta, and Nigeria at large.

He praised CEPEJ for the numerous efforts made at ensuring that there was peace in Niger Delta region, citing different advocacy made by them during the unrest in the region.

Highpoints pf the occasion was the official handover of the office accommodation to the institute by Comrade Sherrif Mulade.
