Medical women under the aegis of Medical Women Association of Nigeria, Delta State Chapter have expressed their profound appreciation to the Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for donating a brand new Toyota Hiace bus to them.
The women who in their number could not hold back their emotions as they publicly let out their inner joy today, Wednesday, 23rd March, 2022, while the bus was being presented to them by the Secretary to Delta State Government, Chief Patrick Ukah.
Ukah in a brief ceremony at the SSG’s conference centre, specially welcomed the elegantly looking medical professionals and congratulated them for deserving the gift of the bus from the State Government.
He said it was not a speech making occasion, but by way of information, to let them know that the Government of the day had started practicalising the making of Ekwueme (Okowa) which is fulfilling promises made.
The SSG listed a number of donations made recently, including the presentation of a bus to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), the transfer of Empowerment cash to some independent entrepreneurs to boost their businesses.
While positing that the government of Senator Okowa would fulfill all promises made as it begins to wind down, Chief Ukah reminded the Medical Women Association of Nigeria, which is an arm (Women Wing) of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) how dear they had always been to the Government of Delta State.
His words, “There are two category of people we hold dear in the State, and they are; the medical people and the security people.
“The medical people did so well for the State during the Covid-19 pandemic and when was a building collapse in the State.
“We are not just presenting this bus to MWAN as a matter of fulfilling our promise, but we are going to continue to synergize and collaborate with the body for more symbiotic gains going forward”, Ukah affirmed.
Earlier in her remark, the President of Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Delta State Chapter, Dr (Mrs) Aghogho Benedicta Akpe had commended the State Government under Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for keeping to the promise made to the Association last year June when they paid him a courtesy visit.
The President was exceptionally happy for the donation of the Total Hiace Bus being just three months in office to merit this favour.
While assuring the Governor that the Association would put the bus to proper and judicious use, Dr. Akpe said, “it must be stated categorically that this giant feat is borne out of the magnanimous heart, gender friendly disposition and fatherly love of our Governor whose guiding philosophy is anchored on living for a higher purpose. He has repeatedly demonstrated selfless service for the good of the citizens who elected him for serve”, she added.
Dr. Akpe in a nutshell, recognised the selfless effort of the SSG, Chief Patrick Ukah in facilitating the donation of the bus by Government and; in addition, she commended the immediate past National President of MWAN and Permanent Secretary of the Delta State Ministry of Health, Dr (Mrs) Minnie Oseji for laying a solid foundation that necessitated the donation.
