Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori; A Charismatic And Merchantable Political Product

By Sylvester Imonina, Esq.

As the PDP Gubernatorial Primaries comes up in no distant time, those who hitherto care less about Delta and Deltans are up to their game of deceit again! Their modus operandi varies from one location and season to the other.

From experience, once elections are over, some of the gubernatorial Aspirants vanish into thin air. It is either they are across the Seas with their immediate family members who are citizens of those Nations where they live or they go to Lagos or Abuja where an average and/or less privileged Deltan cannot reach them!

There is a man whose ways of upbringing make him hungry to be in the midst of his people; season in, season out. That person is Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly.

The accessibility and humility of Sheriff Oborevwori is second to none! He is a man who sees himself as first amongst equals amongst his colleagues; no wonder he remains the longest serving Speaker of the State House of Assembly in the history of Delta State! It is worthy of note that his meekness and team playing disposition is an asset which have created fertile ground for more than ninety five (95) percent support from members of the House of Assembly towards his quest for a “MORE” viable Delta State.

In his home Town of Osubi, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is seen as a good community leader. There is hardly any community project that he does not involve himself in. He is a mobilizer, and an altruistic leader who lives by example. He knows almost everyone he has come in contact with by name, and the young and old call him by name without any iota of fear of reprimand from him or anyone around him. In fact, he is a darling of many.

In his Church at Osubi and Asaba, he is like an ordinary brethren. He is a worker in the Church. When it comes to Church works, one can hardly differentiate him from others. In fact, his unassuming nature in the House of God and his neighborhood is a topic for another day. Those who know him can testify to that.

Sheriff Oborevwori’s charismatic nature and/or way of life makes him a merchantable political product for PDP and Deltans. Empty promises from his opponents should not be taken seriously. Sheriff is a good product.

From available information at my disposal, Sheriff Oborevwori has the interest of Deltans at heart. He is locally bred and knows the needs of different ethnic groups and/ or communities in the State. Unlike some of the foreign based politicians who want to govern the State, Sheriff Oborevwori does not need anyone to tell him what Deltans in Ugbukurusu, Abala, Mereje, Itibioge, Ozoro, Umeh, Akra Obodeti, Onogbokor, Ubulu Okiti, Onicha Uku, Igbodo, Agbodobri, Ogodobri, Okpeleama, Ndoro, Ajagbodudu, Koko and other communities in the State need to make their lives more than meaningful because he knows those places and what their needs are.

Sheriff Oborevwori is someone who believes in local content. Deltans living in Delta State are intellectually endowed like those living across the Seas. Unlike some people who think that technocracy is synonymous with those living across the seas, Sheriff knows what Deltans in Delta State are made of. His belief in local content will make him to source for materials (Deltans in Delta) for his “MORE AGENDA” and/or good governance from within and around Delta State, rather than bringing in those who are not familiar with our environment/problems to come and be our “Masters”, Commissioners, Chairmen of Boards and Goverment agencies.

Sheriff Oborevwori is a pan-Delta Political Product, loved by many. Deltans should get themselves Sherified for a better Delta State of our dream. We all should give him the opportunity to lead Delta State, come 2023.
