Anglican Priest Commends Mariere For Being An Upright Politician, Urges Others To Play By The Rules.

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, an Anglican Priest, Venerable Ufoma Dafiewhare, has stressed the need for politicians to play by the rules as such will guarantee stability in the nation’s democratic journey.

Venerable Dafiewhare gave the advice in a sermon at a thanksgiving service, organized in honor of the Delta State Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon Samuel Mariere on his appointment as Commissioner and a member of the Delta State Executive Council, held at Saint Paul’s Anglican Church Evwreni in Ughelli North local government area.

The Anglican Cleric, Venerable Ufoma Dafiewhare, said 2023 holds a lot for Nigeria as a nation and enjoined key players in the political arena not to heat up the politics, but to abide by the doctrines of the game.

Dwelling on the scripture readings at the thanksgiving service, attended by top government functionaries and other dignitaries within and outside the state, Ven Dafiewhare, urged Christians to always put their trust in God no matter the challenges they face as God has the final say in their lives and destiny.

He described Hon Mariere as a unique politician who never get discouraged no matter the situation, saying that his elevation as a Commissioner in the state was God’s intervention as many thought that his political dreams has come to an end after he lost d primary for House of Representative seat.

The religious Minister pointed out that when Hon Mariere failed in the bid for PDP ticket, he came back to the church for a thanksgiving to God, unlike some others who see politics as a do or die affairs.

He said Evwreni kingdom has produced a lot of great men in the past, adding that God has a purpose for Hon Samuel Mariere at the national politics of the country and prayed God to grant the former State Lawmaker his heart desires.

In his remarks, the Water Resources Commissioner, Hon Samuel Mariere said God has been a pillar of strength in his political journey, saying he will continue to thank God for His faithfulness on him no matter the situations.

Hon Mariere, a two term member of the Delta State House of Assembly, stated that he never embarked on any mission without seeking the face of God as that remains his only source.

He said God had showed him in a dream of an appointment, not elective position after 90 days fasting and prayer, but as human he still went ahead to contest the PDP House of Representatives primary, hence he lost.

Mariere paid glowing tributes to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who he said God used to perfect His plans in his life, promising not to disappoint the governor and the people of Delta State.

A cross section of guest who spoke expressed optimism that Hon Samuel Mariere will add values to the development and good governance of the state.

A reception was later held at the Evwreni Country home of Hon Samuel Mariere and was attended by some Civil Commissioners and members of the State Executive Council, opinion and political leaders among others.

Meanwhile a status of Jesus Christ, a symbol of peace in Evwreni community has been dedicated to God and unveiled.

The status formerly built by the late Evangelist Cousin Mosheshe, was destroyed by some hoodlums in the community.

On the appeal by Hon Samuel Mariere to Senator Ighoyota Amori to reconstruct the status the project was built and delivered to the people Evwreni by the sponsorship of Chief Amori.

Mr Onome Amori who represented his father, said Chief Amori is fulfill to have contributed to the community by the peace status while assuring them of more development in the nearest future.

The status was dedicated to the glory of God by clergy men.
